Ever wondered what it feels like to make art history? Well now’s your chance to find out! Adobe and Red Bull have announced an exciting new collective art project that will give creative talent from across the globe – including everyone from designers and artists, to photographers and publicists – the chance to take part in creating the biggest and most original piece of artwork the world has ever seen. The only ask is that contributors share a common interest – to create something and share it with the world!

The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.
-- Pablo Picasso

Artists from 85+ countries have been invited to take part in Red Bull Collective Art, which brings ‘Cadavre Exquís’ into the digital age by layering multiple pieces of art created by different people to make one collective piece. Each contributor has four hours to put their artistic stamp on the final piece of artwork, which will be exhibited in art galleries across the world starting in May 2013.

So, how do I participate?

I am not a drawing artist myself. Still, I was wondering if and how I can join the project. Using the apps from my Adobe Creative Cloud membership I tried to create a few drawings of a sheep, a horse, or a person for out daughter, but let's say they did not turn out to be very appealing.

So what do I do then ? I have already booked a time slot and I don't want to waste my chance to contribute to this project. If only I could participate with a photograph. I have so many of them, it's my passion after all.

... and then the penny dropped! I will use Photoshop or Illustrator to convert a few of my favorite photos into drawings. Afterwards, in my 4 hour window I will just spend the time to connect my photoshops-converted-to-drawings work with the previous artist's creation. Looking online, there are so many tutorials on how to convert a photo into a drawing!

Here are the ones that I liked:

I am sure there are many more ways to do this and folks like Terry White would have a much better way of showing how that's done.

Have you signed up? How are you participating in the biggest collective art project in history?
